My own training started at Carlisle College of Art and then Edinburgh College of Art where I specialised in Drawing and Painting. This was followed by some 20 years' teaching art to adults through Community Education, Evening Classes, Workshops and Private Tuition.
As an artist, my preference is for working in oils, acrylics and gouache as well as mixed media however I am a strong believer in the discipline of drawing.
Inspired and influenced by the landscapes and cityscapes of Scotland and the Mediterranean, my work tends to have expressive qualities, reflecting what I see in a vital and distinct way. A combination of intuition and realism enables the work to become free and fluid both in handling and execution.
